Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer will oversee the efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all engineering assets at The Lana hotel, ensuring guest satisfaction and protection of the owner’s property.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the engineering team, contractors and subordinate managers.
• Manage structural, grounds and external facility maintenance.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
• Assist in preparing the annual Capital Expenditure Plan and lead small CAPEX projects from scope to hand‑over.
• Coordinate with operational departments to minimise disruption and support exceptional guest experiences.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety procedures and corporate SOPs.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering or project‑management qualifications.
• 3‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanical or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in an Assistant Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager role.
• Strong understanding of health‑and‑safety and trading standards legislation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets and P&L.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in HVAC‑R, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, chillers and boilers.
• Experience with complex mechanical/electrical systems and basic construction.
• Project management and cost control skills.
