Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in running the day-to-day Engineering Department at The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton. The role ensures that all hotel facilities, equipment and building systems are kept to the highest standards, helps lead the engineering team, oversees preventive maintenance, ensures compliance with health and safety regulations and contributes to an exceptional guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Chief Engineer in daily engineering operations, keeping maintenance activities efficient and facilities compliant with hotel standards.
• Monitor the condition and performance of all facilities, equipment and systems, including guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house areas.
• Plan, coordinate and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Supervise and coach engineering colleagues, giving training and performance feedback.
• Maintain compliance with Hilton standards, local regulations, health and safety, fire and life safety procedures and environmental practices.
• Support energy conservation, cost control, inventory management and efficient use of engineering resources.
• Work with hotel departments, contractors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
• Provide timely support during emergencies, breakdowns and urgent guest requests.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of engineering experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in the same role.
• Previous experience with international hotel brands is preferred.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance standards.
• Proactive mindset focused on guest satisfaction, quality and operational excellence.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hotel environment and support a high-performing engineering team.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building maintenance systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
