Assistant Construction Manager – Civil

About the role

The Assistant Construction Manager – Civil will support the delivery of civil works for electrical substation projects in Dubai. Reporting to the senior Construction Manager, you will ensure that foundations, structures, roads, drainage and related infrastructure are built safely, to design specifications, on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Review civil drawings, specifications and scope for 33kV‑220kV substation projects.
• Develop and monitor detailed construction schedules for earthworks, foundations, equipment structures and site infrastructure.
• Coordinate civil activities with electrical and mechanical installation teams, ensuring proper sequencing.
• Supervise site clearing, excavation, grading, soil compaction, ground improvement and back‑filling.
• Oversee construction of foundations for transformers, circuit breakers, gantries and other equipment, verifying load requirements and tolerances.
• Manage erection of control buildings, relay rooms, GIS buildings, security structures and cable trenches.
• Ensure proper installation of drainage, storm‑water, oil‑containment pits and external works such as roads, fencing and access gates.
• Control procurement and delivery of concrete, reinforcement steel, structural steel and precast elements.
• Lead testing, inspection and quality‑assurance activities for all civil works.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in civil construction for high‑voltage substation projects.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical requirements, soil compaction and ground improvement techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications.
• Excellent coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.
