Assistant Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Assistant Maintenance Manager ensures that plant and equipment perform to required standards to meet production targets. The role is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of production equipment and facilities while contributing to cost savings in energy and maintenance management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and supervising daily maintenance activities across the facility.
• Inspect equipment to identify operational inefficiencies and facilitate optimization.
• Supervise maintenance technicians and provide technical guidance and support.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Assist in developing maintenance schedules, SOPs and comprehensive maintenance programs.
• Monitor spare‑parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
• Manage equipment breakdowns efficiently and effectively.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance on all plant and equipment to achieve maximum availability.
• Oversee machinery and equipment maintenance operations, including ordering parts, inspection and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate closely with team members to meet operational deadlines and support production targets.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in the printing industry, with exposure to automation and PLC‑based systems.
• At least 4 years in a supervisory maintenance role within printing, packaging or a comparable high‑speed manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record in improving OEE and implementing Lean/TPM methodologies.
• Industrial training certification in mechanical or electrical fields.

Required skills

• Strong ability to lead and troubleshoot machines, increasing overall factory reliability.
• In‑depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical and industrial equipment.
• People management and analytical problem‑solving capabilities.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
• Experience with PLC systems and Lean/TPM improvement tools.
