Assistant Manager – Japanese Restaurant

About the role

The Assistant Manager will support the day‑to‑day operations of the Japanese restaurant at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. This role ensures smooth opening and closing procedures, maintains high service standards, and contributes to guest satisfaction in a luxury beachfront setting.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing routines.
• Monitor service quality, food presentation, and adherence to Japanese dining standards.
• Handle guest concerns promptly and resolve complaints professionally.
• Supervise, motivate and coach restaurant staff during shifts.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and daily briefings.
• Prepare staff schedules, manage shift coverage and monitor labor productivity.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, HACCP and local health regulations.
• Control inventory, conduct stock counts, minimize waste and support cost‑control initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred).
• 2–3 years of supervisory or assistant‑manager experience in a restaurant, preferably Japanese or Asian cuisine.
• Strong leadership, team‑management and customer‑service skills.
• Knowledge of Japanese cuisine, dining etiquette and restaurant operations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS systems.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office applications.
