Assistant Professor of Psychology

About the role

The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in Al Ain is seeking an Assistant Professor of Psychology. The area of specialization is open, but candidates with proven expertise in Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology or Cross-Cultural Psychology are particularly welcome. Applicants must have a strong research background and/or an established research programme with publications in Scopus-linked journals.

Key responsibilities

• Teach high-quality courses using evidence-based pedagogical approaches and mentor students at undergraduate and postgraduate level
• Develop an independent, impactful research programme, secure external funding and publish in peer-reviewed outlets
• Supervise student research
• Contribute to departmental and institutional leadership, take part in committees, help develop the curriculum, and engage in professional and community outreach
• Uphold ethical, inclusive and collegial academic practice

Required profile

• Bachelor's and doctoral degrees in Psychology from an internationally reputable university
• Excellent publication record commensurate with career stage and ability to attract competitive funding
• Native or near-native English fluency
• Preferred: professional development in higher education teaching and learning, and clinical training and practical experience in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); additional consideration for licensure or license-eligibility and supervision experience
