Assistant Project Manager - Infrastructure, Utilities and Roads

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager leads the site supervision team for infrastructure, utilities and roads projects in Abu Dhabi, keeping the Project Management and Contract Management up to date with all site activities. The position is for a 1-year term, extendable, and suits candidates with site supervision experience in large-scale infrastructure, roads, parking spaces and wet utility works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, direct and monitor the performance of site engineers and support staff
• Monitor the contractor's programme of works to ensure on-time delivery
• Act as the main point of contact for contractor and subcontractor site staff on project issues
• Review contractor claims and negotiate their value or schedule changes
• Maintain site safety and coordinate safety inspections
• Review and approve contractor equipment and manpower plans, and proposed sub-contractors, vendors, materials and shop drawings
• Visit the site regularly to check quality, safety and progress and report findings to management
• Lead evaluation of Requests for Information (RFI) and field quality control procedures
• Review MS, QCP, ITP, RA and records against project requirements
• Stay aware of contract financial status, give final approval to works and arrange handover

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering or Technology, preferably Civil, Architecture or Construction Management
• 12+ years of overall experience, including at least 7+ years in the GCC
• 8+ years of site supervision across project types
• Experience in infrastructure, roads, parking spaces and wet utility/sewerage/stormwater projects preferred
• PMP certification is an advantage; ADM, DMT or similar authority approval is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of design and construction contracts, especially FIDIC or equivalent
• Track record managing projects in one or more specialisations
