Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil (33/11 kV Substations)

About the role

WSP Middle East is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer Civil to support the Resident Engineer in overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects within the ADDC or AADC domain. The role ensures projects are delivered according to specifications, on time and within budget, with high standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Resident Engineer in coordinating electrical engineering activities across multiple project types in the UAE.
• Review and resolve technical issues on site and help develop practical engineering solutions.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements and project documentation against project requirements, QA procedures and standards.
• Coordinate and supervise site inspections, monitor construction progress and guide site supervision staff.
• Ensure HSE requirements are followed on site in line with company policies and project specifications.
• Monitor contractor performance and workmanship so that electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, local authority regulations and industry best practice.
• Assist in preparing progress reports, technical assessments, site instructions and other project documentation.
• Take part in meetings with clients, contractors, authorities and internal stakeholders, and support project close-out, testing and commissioning reviews, snagging inspections and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Proven experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer (Civil), Civil Engineer or Site Civil Engineer on large infrastructure, utilities or construction projects.
• Good knowledge of UAE local authority requirements and international construction codes and standards.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, construction methods and site supervision.
• Experience reviewing technical submittals and monitoring contractor performance.
• Proficiency in engineering and project management software.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary project teams.
