Associate Estimating Engineer

About the role

Parsons is looking for an Associate Estimating Engineer to join its team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role covers a variety of standard estimating activities on an assigned project or program.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare material take-offs from engineering drawings, plans and specifications, including AutoCAD drawings and other software.
• Assist in developing detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) for contracts, projects and program elements, and define the scope intended by contract documents.
• Support the Estimating Leads with historical data and estimate database management, documenting cost data from completed design and construction contracts.
• Prepare and summarize the basis of estimate (BOE), including scope, method, rates, assumptions, escalations, parametric comparisons, QC review and conclusions.
• Use parametric historical data to develop order-of-magnitude estimates for capital assets, and prepare tasked estimates with labor, material, equipment and productivity rates.
• Use prescribed estimating software and tools for quantity take-offs, calculations, bid item details, resource reports and work activity definitions.
• Develop quotation requests for subcontractors, vendors and suppliers, and accumulate and classify historical cost data.
• Review contract documents for risk and assign reasonable maximum cost and schedule exposure.
• Deliver quality-controlled estimates and perform other duties assigned by higher-level estimating staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; minimum 3 years of related work experience, with pre-contract experience preferred.
• Ideally experience in Abu Dhabi or the UAE.
• Clear understanding of construction contract commercial documents, drawings and specifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Desirable: Master's in Civil Engineering or a related field, experience in a large team, and prior experience with a contractor or leading PMC in the GCC.
