Associate Research Scientist – Cybersecurity Governance

About the role

The Center for Cyber Security at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking an Associate Research Scientist for a one‑year fixed‑term appointment. The role focuses on cutting‑edge research in cybersecurity governance, law, policy, human factors, and socio‑behavioral dimensions of security.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct world‑class research in systems security and privacy, producing articles for top‑tier conferences and journals.
• Collaborate with government entities, companies, and NYU researchers to deliver groundbreaking results.
• Mentor PhD, master and bachelor students, enhancing their research capabilities.
• Support the Center by contributing technically and administratively to workshops, conferences and competitions.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Public Policy, Law, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology, Business or a related interdisciplinary field.
• At least three years of relevant experience beyond the PhD.
• Excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research skills (policy analysis, empirical user studies, survey methodology, behavioral experiments).
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal abilities, and capacity to work both independently and in a team.
