AVP, Control & Governance

About the role

This role supports the GM MO Control & Governance function by executing and monitoring first-line control activities across Global Markets Middle Office processes, ensuring control discipline, timely exception escalation and accurate evidence management. It covers trade controls, risk monitoring, reconciliations, exceptions, breaks, lifecycle events and governance reporting, working under the direction of the VP & Head of GM MO Control & Governance. The role is an individual contributor or team lead, supporting Specialists where assigned and coordinating with peer AVPs across Collateral Management and Reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Execute control activities in line with approved SOPs, standards and escalation protocols, keeping control logs, issue trackers, evidence files and escalation records up to date.
• Perform trading permissions, booking template and Islamic trade booking control checks, and review amendment and cancellation evidence.
• Support off-market monitoring, counterparty exposure monitoring and risk-monitoring dashboards, and track exceptions, threshold breaches and trends.
• Perform or oversee internal reconciliations (front-to-back, system-to-system, T0, position-related) and follow up external reconciliations with custodians, counterparties, brokers and clearing channels.
• Track failed trades, settlement fails, aged breaks and unresolved exceptions, and coordinate root-cause analysis.
• Monitor lifecycle events such as credit events, corporate actions and settlement-related updates, and escalate high-impact items.
• Provide inputs for management dashboards, KPI/KRI reporting, control packs and governance forums, and support regulatory reporting quality oversight.
• Prepare control evidence for audits, RCSA and control-effectiveness reviews, and support remediation of recurring issues.
• Work with Front Office, Trade Support, Operations, Market Risk, Product Control, Finance, Compliance, Technology, Credit and regional teams on issue resolution and hand-offs.
