Back of House Officer

About the role

Cafe KIRA, a casual, everyday version of the KIRA brand, is looking for a Back of House (BOH) Officer. The role keeps kitchens, stewarding and storage areas clean, safe and organised, in line with company policy and HACCP regulations. It works closely with the culinary, stewarding and purchasing teams to support kitchen operations, cost control and service efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor the daily activities of kitchen porters, stewards and cleaners, and keep kitchen and storage areas clean, safe and organised.
• Support the kitchen team with workflow and logistics between storage, preparation and service areas.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and food hygiene standards (HACCP, municipality regulations) and carry out regular inspections.
• Maintain records of cleaning schedules, pest control and sanitation checklists.
• Monitor kitchen equipment, utensils and cleaning tools, report maintenance needs to Engineering, and coordinate with Store and Purchasing on stock levels of cleaning supplies and consumables.
• Work with the Executive Chef and Stewarding Supervisor, coordinate equipment and utensils for banquet and outlet operations, and help receive and organise deliveries using FIFO.
• Maintain BOH records such as temperature logs and maintenance reports, minimise wastage and take part in BOH meetings.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Operations or a related field.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in Back of House / Stewarding operations in hospitality.
• Good command of spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and support multiple outlets.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards and BOH best practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of hotel management systems is preferred.
