Barback - Restaurants, Bars & Experiences

About the role

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi is looking for a Restaurants, Bars & Experiences Barback to join its Restaurants, Bars & Experiences team. The role reports to the Bar Manager and supports the team in keeping the restaurant running smoothly and efficiently, delivering prompt, professional service and a memorable dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Set up the bar each day: clean all bar areas and equipment, stock fridges and stations, and prepare mise en place before each shift.
• Assist with stock counts and ensure adequate supplies of crockery, glassware, cutlery, condiments, fresh fruit and herbs.
• During service, prepare hot drinks to the required standard, clean coffee machines and hot drink equipment, replenish stations and wash utensils, glassware and crockery.
• Keep the bar area and stations immaculate throughout service and set up the bar for special or private events as briefed.
• Attend to bar guests, give regular feedback to managers and report immediately if a guest is dissatisfied.
• Study all menus, attend food and beverage training and be able to describe ingredients and preparation methods to guests.
• Provide courteous, professional service to customers, staff and suppliers, know the layout of the operation and respond to changes requested by the manager.
• Take part in staff briefings, support new recruits with on-the-job training and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and punctuality.

Required profile

• Previous food and beverage experience, preferably in a bar, restaurant, hotel or luxury hospitality environment.
• Basic knowledge of bar operations, beverages and service standards.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are advantageous.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying and stock replenishment.
