Barge Superintendent – Offshore Operations

About the role

The Barge Superintendent is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and safe operation of the offshore barge and its crew. This role ensures efficient coordination with the on‑shore base, maintains equipment, and drives productivity improvements.

Key responsibilities

• General administration and supervision of all personnel and equipment onboard the barge.
• Coordinate with the base for progress reporting, future barge requirements, and other critical matters.
• Ensure proper fuel and water supply to the barge and supporting vessels.
• Oversee periodic maintenance, repairs, and spare‑part coordination for barge equipment.
• Control internal and external maintenance, including painting, cleaning, and housekeeping.
• Propose and implement barge modifications to enhance operations and productivity.
• Supervise warehousing of stores, optimizing space and proper storage of project material.
• Ensure catering services for barge personnel.
• Resolve personnel issues that cannot be settled by junior staff.
• Schedule leave breaks while maintaining continuous barge operations.
• Promote safety consciousness and enforce safety measures for installation procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good standard of English.
• All offshore safety training requirements.
• 15‑18 years of proven offshore barge experience, including structure and pipe‑laying operations.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
• Superior knowledge of all aspects of offshore operations.
• Effective contractual and technical skills.
