Blasting Engineer

About the role

Stevin Rock is looking for an experienced Blasting Engineer to join its Drill & Blast operations in Ras Al Khaimah. This is a hands-on engineering role covering the complete blasting cycle, from blast design and planning through to execution, performance analysis and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop blast designs based on geological conditions and production requirements, determining burden, spacing, charge and timing parameters.
• Work with Survey and Drilling teams to ensure accurate blast design and hole quality.
• Supervise charging and blasting activities so they follow approved designs.
• Monitor fragmentation, rockpile displacement, vibration and oversize performance.
• Analyse blast results to find ways to improve performance and reduce cost.
• Ensure explosives are handled, stored, transported and used in line with operational and legal requirements.
• Maintain accurate blast records and performance information, and work with Operations, HSE, Technical Services and regulators.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a diploma in a blasting-related discipline.
• 5-7 years of blasting experience, preferably in quarrying or open-pit mining.
• Valid UAE Blasting Licence and explosives certification.
• Fluent English and a valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Practical blast design experience.
• Blast design software such as Expertir.
• GPS and vibration monitoring equipment.
• Strong knowledge of explosives safety and regulatory requirements.
