Buying Intern - Clothing Department

About the role

Babyshop, an omni-channel Baby & Kids retailer active in the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and India, is looking for a Buying Intern to support its Clothing Buying Team. The internship lasts 3 months and suits someone with a background in fashion apparel, retail, merchandising or a related field; prior internship or work experience in apparel merchandising or buying is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Buyers and the QA team to organise regular fit sessions and keep samples ready for them
• Attend weekly fit sessions and help maintain product quality and fit standards
• Update buying comments and product information in the PLM system
• Coordinate with suppliers on sample submissions, approvals and delivery timelines, sharing approvals regularly by email
• Monitor the critical path, give weekly delivery status updates and flag delays early
• Prepare weekly product performance and trading reports
• Manage and track samples, submissions, approvals and seasonal phases, and prepare samples for reviews, photoshoots and e-commerce shoots
• Support allocation and franchise file preparation after range reviews, and help with presentations, monthly review reports and strategic meetings
• Prepare order confirmation sheets and brief suppliers on order details
• Carry out store visits and competitor shopping to feed market insights into department strategy
• Maintain product flow chart documentation and keep the department's samples organised
• Open courier packages and provide general administrative and operational support to the Buying team

Required profile

• Educational background in fashion apparel, retail, merchandising or a related field
• Prior internship or work experience in apparel merchandising or buying preferred
• Sponsor (parent/spouse) visa and medical insurance
