C++ Software Engineer - Low-Latency Trading Systems

About the role

A highly regarded quantitative trading firm is looking to add an experienced C++ Software Engineer to its growing engineering team in the UAE. You will work alongside talented engineers, traders, researchers and fellow developers, helping build some of the firm's most technically demanding systems. You will take part in the full development lifecycle, from initial design and development through to deployment, with a focus on ultra-low-latency, high-throughput trading systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance C++ systems in a Linux environment.
• Build and enhance the core frameworks that support trading applications.
• Work with traders, researchers and other engineers to deliver new technology and infrastructure.
• Benchmark, profile and optimise critical software services to maximise performance.
• Develop latency-sensitive systems, with a focus on low-level systems and network performance.
• Take ownership of projects from conception through to production deployment.
• Continuously identify ways to improve scalability, flexibility and overall system performance.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency in C/C++ systems development within Linux.
• Strong background in performance tuning and low-latency software optimisation.
• Proven track record of developing high-performance software.
• Experience building latency-sensitive systems, with a solid understanding of low-level systems and network development.
• Good understanding of network protocols.
• Interest in or experience with x86 assembly; hands-on assembly coding experience is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of operating system internals and the Linux kernel.
• Strong knowledge of hardware architecture and its impact on latency.
