Cable & Partial Discharge Application Engineer

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Cable & Partial Discharge Application Engineer in Dubai. The role combines technical expertise on cable fault location, VLF testing and partial discharge (PD) diagnostics with customer engagement and business support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver product demonstrations, presentations and training on cable fault location, VLF testing and PD diagnostic systems, and give pre- and post-sales technical support to customers, distributors and internal teams.
• Help customers interpret test results and recommend actions for cable condition assessment.
• Support the commissioning, setup and calibration of MV/HV testing and PD measurement equipment, and prepare technical documentation, user guides and training materials.
• Liaise with engineering and R&D teams on product performance, feature enhancements and market requirements.
• Work with sales and business development teams to propose technically sound solutions, and take part in on-site visits, seminars, workshops and webinars.
• Act as a subject matter expert at trade shows and exhibitions, support key account management, and help prepare technical proposals, tenders and specifications.
• Ensure technical activities comply with company procedures, industry standards and safety regulations, and keep accurate records of demonstrations, site visits and customer communications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cable testing, insulation diagnostics or partial discharge analysis.
• In-depth understanding of MV/HV cable systems, insulation degradation mechanisms and PD phenomena.
• Experience in field testing, troubleshooting and diagnostics of underground cable networks.

Required skills

• Familiarity with VLF testing, TDR and PD testing methods and standards such as IEC 60270.
• Knowledge of Megger or equivalent testing equipment is an advantage.
