Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, reporting and compliance for Grand Mercure Dubai City, a 5‑star Accor hotel, ensuring the financial strategy is implemented according to policy.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting operations, control, mentor staff and ensure efficient teamwork.
• Verify daily bank balances and credit‑card reconciliations for Director of Finance approval.
• Verify accuracy of the General Cashier report and ensure daily revenue deposits.
• Perform month‑end account reconciliations of all general ledger balances before issuing financial statements, reporting gaps to the Director of Finance.
• Review monthly reports such as F&B and Cost Controller reports per company policy.
• Ensure timely tax payments and filings and resolve variances.
• Prepare various monthly management reports as required.
• Assist the Financial Controller with accounting policy application, budgeting, financial analysis and ad‑hoc duties.
• Maintain proper filing of accounting records and contracts for easy retrieval.
• Keep updated with new regulations and Accor policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and relevant hotel finance and non‑finance systems.
