Chief Accountant - NVOCC / Liner Shipping

About the role

A strategic, analytical and hands-on Chief Accountant is sought to lead financial controls, optimise fund management and oversee a global network of shipping agents. The position is based in Dubai, UAE, in an office setting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and resolve Statements of Accounts (SoA) across more than 40 international shipping agents.
• Oversee financial accounting for a container fleet of more than 20,000 TEUs.
• Control and audit port charges, container maintenance and repair (M&R), storage, demurrage and related receivables and payables.
• Manage regional treasury, cash flow, working capital and multi-currency transactions.
• Ensure compliance with agency agreements and applicable UAE financial regulations.

Required profile

• 7+ years of core accounting experience.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in the UAE NVOCC or liner shipping industry.
• Strong knowledge of agency agreements, port disbursement accounts (DA), agent reconciliation and container life-cycle costing.
• Ability to take ownership of complex reconciliations, resolve financial disputes and drive financial controls in a fast-paced shipping environment.

• Proficiency in shipping ERP systems.
• Analytical, negotiation, problem-solving and team collaboration skills.
