Chief Engineer – Hotel Engineering & Maintenance (Europe)

About the role

Our client, a growing 4‑ and 5‑star hotel group based in Cyprus, is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead engineering and maintenance across its properties in Europe. The role combines technical oversight with team leadership to ensure safe, efficient operations and an excellent guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programmes throughout the hotel.
• Oversee MEP systems to guarantee safe and efficient building performance.
• Manage HVAC and refrigeration assets, ensuring optimal operation.
• Supervise electrical and mechanical installations and upgrades.
• Provide leadership and development for the engineering team.
• Drive energy and utility management initiatives and monitor performance.
• Support renovation and refurbishment projects while maintaining compliance.
• Ensure health, safety and technical regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a valid Mechanical Engineering licence.
• 7‑10 years of engineering or maintenance experience in hotels, resorts, large commercial properties or facilities‑management firms.
• Hands‑on experience with HVAC, refrigeration, MEP, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Proven track record in preventive maintenance, energy and utilities management.
• Knowledge of health‑ and safety regulations in hospitality environments.
• Experience collaborating with hotel General Managers and internal engineering teams.
• Business‑fluent English; Greek is a plus.
