Chief Technician - Mechanical Design

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the UAE focused on defence and emerging technologies, is looking for an experienced Chief Technician - Mechanical Design for Halcon in Abu Dhabi. The role supports the development of advanced aerospace and defence systems and covers mechanical design, analysis, testing support, product development and lifecycle management of airframes, launcher platforms, aircraft-mounted equipment and associated aerospace hardware. The successful candidate provides technical leadership, mentors engineers and ensures designs meet performance, manufacturability and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical design activities through the full product lifecycle, from concept development to production and in-service support.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and design verification using theoretical and simulation-based methods.
• Develop test specifications, procedures and validation activities to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver successful programs.

Required profile

• Diploma, B.Tech, M.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in aerospace, defence, guided munitions, aviation or similar high-technology engineering environments.
• Proven experience in mechanical equipment development, manufacturing support, testing and performance evaluation.
• Preferred: experience in defence product development, guided weapon systems, missile systems or aerospace platforms; experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.
• English proficiency required.

• Strong proficiency in CAD systems and Product Data Management (PDM)
• Engineering analysis and mechanical design methodologies
