Civil Inspector (Roads & Infrastructure)

About the role

Parsons is looking for a Civil Inspector to join its team in Dubai, UAE. The role involves continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform civil and structural tests such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, line and grade surveys, bolt torques and concrete coring.
• Carry out destructive and non-destructive tests on metals and other materials using magnaflex, dye penetrant, radiographic, tension and compression, paint thickness and resistivity methods.
• Surveil underground piping for tightness, bedding and grade; inspect and monitor piling installation for location and bearing.
• Validate piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
• Inspect electrical installations for proper grounding, circuit integrity and compliance with statutory and customer regulations.
• Continuously inspect painting and insulation for thickness and coverage continuity.
• Provide general inspection of construction labour and subcontracted tasks for professional workmanship, and verify equipment alignment and balancing.
• Take part in developing quality control reports and procedures, and in job safety practices and safety reports.

Required profile

• Diploma or associate degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, in one or more of roads, bridges, drainage, utilities or irrigation.
• Recent experience in irrigation works in the Emirate of Dubai is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good communication skills for coordinating with contractors, inspectors and engineers.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations on construction sites.
• Strong analytical capability and ability to work independently.
