Coating Specialist – Offshore Project

About the role

The Coating Specialist will supervise and inspect all surface preparation, painting, coating, and corrosion protection activities for offshore facilities, ensuring compliance with ADNOC Offshore specifications, international standards, and project quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect surface preparation and coating application activities for offshore structures, modules, piping systems, pressure vessels, and equipment.
• Verify compliance with ADNOC Offshore specifications, project requirements, and coating manufacturer recommendations.
• Review and approve coating procedures, method statements, ITPs, and quality documentation.
• Ensure proper environmental conditions are maintained during blasting and painting operations and witness coating activities during fabrication, construction, pre‑commissioning, and installation phases.
• Perform surface cleanliness inspections, surface profile measurements, ambient condition monitoring, wet and dry film thickness inspections, adhesion and salt contamination testing, and coating curing verification.
• Review corrosion mitigation programs, monitor protective coating systems for splash zones and submerged structures, and coordinate touch‑up and repair activities.
• Maintain inspection records, prepare punch lists, manage NCRs, and support mechanical completion and quality dossiers.
• Interface with ADNOC Offshore representatives, third‑party inspectors, and participate in quality audits and project meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years coating inspection experience in oil & gas, EPC, offshore or petrochemical projects.
• At least 5 years experience on ADNOC Offshore projects or similar major offshore developments.
• Proven experience with offshore jackets, topsides, pipelines, risers, pressure vessels, structural steel, modules, skids, fabrication yards and offshore installation.

Required skills

• NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 (mandatory) and NACE CIP Level 3 (preferred).
• BGAS Grade 2 Painting Inspector and CSWIP Painting Inspector certifications (preferred).
• Knowledge of ADNOC Offshore specifications, NACE, SSPC, ISO 12944, ISO 8501 series, ASTM coating inspection standards and ISO 9001 QMS.
• Advanced coating inspection expertise including surface cleanliness (SSPC/NACE), surface profile, wet/dry film thickness, adhesion, salt contamination, curing verification and corrosion protection systems.
• Strong QA/QC documentation, reporting and NCR management skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and inspection software.
