Commis 1 – All Day Dining

About the role

The Commis 1 supports the All Day Dining operation by preparing and cooking meals, maintaining food quality, and assisting kitchen management. This position works closely with chefs and service staff to ensure smooth service throughout the day.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters, and manage food storage and thawing.
• Maintain food logs, monitor portion sizes, garnish dishes and ensure quality of all food items.
• Communicate with kitchen and service staff about specials, out‑of‑stock items and excess food for daily specials.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling and employee coaching as needed.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 3 years of related culinary experience.
• No prior supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking techniques for hot and cold dishes.
• Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, broilers, grills and roasters.
• Food safety and hygiene practices, including temperature control and logging.
