Commis I – Pastry

About the role

The Commis I – Pastry will support the pastry team at Aloft Abu Dhabi, preparing a range of hot and cold desserts and ensuring high standards of quality and presentation. This full‑time, onsite position works in a fast‑paced hotel environment, serving both guests and internal F&B outlets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook pastries, cold foods and special menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters, and monitor food logs.
• Thaw frozen items, portion, arrange and garnish dishes, and maintain inventory of specials.
• Communicate with chefs and service staff about menu specials, out‑of‑stock items and excess food usage.
• Follow health, safety and security policies, report maintenance issues and maintain a clean, professional appearance.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling and coaching of junior staff as required.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school qualification in culinary arts or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in pastry or food preparation within a hotel or restaurant setting.
• Ability to work standing for long periods, lift up to 25 lb, and perform repetitive motions.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude.

• Knowledge of pastry preparation techniques and oven operation.
• Ability to follow recipes, quality standards and food safety procedures.
