Commis II – Cafeteria Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis II works in the cafeteria kitchen of Marriott Hotels & Resorts in Dubai, preparing and cooking food according to established recipes and quality standards. The role involves handling ingredients, operating kitchen equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring and mixing.
• Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, presentation standards and food preparation checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Monitor food quality, test doneness, and ensure correct temperature of appliances and food.
• Set‑up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, tables, tools and equipment.
• Follow company safety, security and hygiene policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related food‑service or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Food preparation and ingredient handling.
• Operation of kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers and microwaves.
• Basic food safety and temperature control practices.
