Commis II – Heartist Cafeteria

About the role

We are looking for a Commis II to support the Heartist Cafeteria kitchen at Fairmont Ajman. The successful candidate will assist in preparing and presenting high-quality meals for staff, ensuring food safety, consistency and timely service in line with hotel standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in daily preparation, cooking and presentation of breakfast, lunch, dinner and special meals for Heartists.
• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, portioning and storing them correctly.
• Maintain consistency in taste, temperature and presentation, and monitor food quality and freshness.
• Support buffet setup, replenishment and maintain adequate food levels during service periods.
• Follow HACCP, FIFO and temperature-control procedures, and keep the kitchen clean and hygienic.
• Help with receiving, checking and storing food supplies and minimize waste through proper portion control.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Commis or in a professional kitchen, preferably in a staff cafeteria or high-volume environment.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Understanding of food hygiene and HACCP principles.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multicultural setting.
• Good teamwork, communication skills and flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
