Commis III - Pastry

About the role

SO/ Uptown Dubai, part of the SO/ collection of fashion-rooted hotels, is looking for a passionate, creative and dedicated Commis III Pastry to join its culinary team. You will support the Pastry team in preparing and presenting high-quality desserts, pastries and baked goods, keeping consistency and culinary standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare pastries, desserts, cakes, breads and other baked goods according to recipes and quality standards.
• Support the Pastry Chef and senior team with mise en place and daily kitchen operations.
• Measure, mix and prepare ingredients accurately, following standard recipes and portion specs.
• Help decorate, finish and present desserts and pastries consistently and attractively.
• Keep the workstation clean, organized and hygienic, in line with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Handle, label, store and rotate ingredients and finished products using FIFO procedures.
• Monitor ingredient use and minimise food waste.
• Prepare pastry items for à la carte dining, buffets, banquets and special events.
• Clean and maintain pastry equipment, tools and utensils.
• Collaborate with the Pastry team and other kitchen departments, and help with stock control and inventory checks.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; pastry or culinary arts certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of pastry experience in a hotel, bakery or high-volume kitchen.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation and dessert presentation.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards.
• Strong organisation and time management, attention to detail and teamwork.
