Commis II – Hot Kitchen

About the role

The Commis II – Hot Kitchen supports the culinary team at Marriott Hotel Downtown Abu Dhabi by preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced hotel kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, chop, weigh, store and measure ingredients according to recipes.
• Wash, peel and prep fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Cook hot and cold dishes, operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality, and ensure presentation standards.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment.
• Check appliance and food temperatures, follow safety and security policies.
• Maintain professional appearance and support a collaborative team environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of food‑preparation or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for long periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
• Willingness to follow safety training, report hazards and maintain confidentiality.
