Commis II – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Luxury Collection is seeking a Commis II to join the culinary team at Al Maha, a desert resort in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. This entry‑level position supports the kitchen by preparing ingredients, cooking basic dishes, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, peel, and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepare and cook food following recipe, quality, and presentation standards.
• Prepare cold dishes and assist with plating.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely.
• Test food for doneness and monitor quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations at the start and end of each shift.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.

Required profile

• Passion for food preparation and a willingness to learn in a luxury hospitality setting.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety standards.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Basic knife handling and food preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with operating standard kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, etc.).
