Commissioning Engineer – Fire Fighting

About the role

NAFFCO is looking for a Commissioning Engineer specialized in fire‑fighting systems to test, verify and hand over reliable fire protection installations. The role supports safe, compliant project delivery across Dubai and the wider UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute pre‑commissioning, testing, commissioning and hand‑over activities for fire‑fighting and fire‑protection systems.
• Inspect installations against approved shop drawings, specifications, method statements and relevant standards.
• Conduct hydrostatic pressure testing, flushing, flow testing, pump performance testing and functional verification of fire pumps, sprinkler, foam, clean‑agent and gas suppression systems.
• Coordinate inspections and testing with consultants, clients, Civil Defence authorities, main contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Prepare inspection requests, commissioning procedures, test records, checklists and completion certificates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 3–7 years of commissioning experience on fire‑fighting, fire‑protection or MEP systems, preferably in the UAE or GCC.
• Proven ability to interpret shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, specifications and testing requirements.
• Familiarity with NFPA standards, UAE Civil Defence regulations and local authority approval processes.

Required skills

• Commissioning of fire pumps, sprinkler, wet/dry riser, standpipe and hydrant systems.
• Hydrostatic, flushing, flow and pressure testing of fire‑protection installations.
• Use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and commissioning software for technical reporting.
• Knowledge of fire alarm interfaces, flow switches, pressure switches and monitoring devices.
