Computational Designer – MEP & Structural Design

About the role

Zutari is seeking an experienced Computational Designer with a strong background in bridges, structures, facades and MEP systems. The role focuses on leveraging computational and parametric design techniques to create advanced, coordinated solutions that enhance both aesthetic and functional performance across multidisciplinary projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of computational design processes for structural, facade, and MEP systems.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers and digital teams to create optimized, coordinated design solutions.
• Utilize Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo and Python to automate and enhance design workflows.
• Develop parametric and generative models for design exploration, coordination and performance optimisation.
• Support MEP system optimisation, including routing, spatial coordination and performance‑driven layouts.
• Analyse complex geometric, environmental and performance data to inform design decisions.
• Prepare and review detailed design documentation, BIM models, scripts and specifications.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement of BIM and computational standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in computational design within the built environment, covering structures, facades and MEP systems.
• Proven experience working in multidisciplinary design environments.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and track record of delivering high‑quality design solutions on time and within budget.

Required skills

• Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo, C# and Python scripting.
• Rhino.Inside.Revit, Grasshopper and Revit API.
• Expert‑level Revit BIM for structural and MEP models.
• Familiarity with TEKLA Structures.
• Structural analysis tools such as Strand7, SAP2000, ETABS, StatiCa.
• MEP modelling, coordination and automation tools.
• 3D modelling and visualization software including Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp.
