Construction Project Director - Buildings

About the role

Parsons is looking for a Construction Director to lead building projects in Abu Dhabi. The role acts as the company's representative to the client and subcontractors, mobilizes resources to build project teams and oversees the project plan, health and safety and quality systems.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilize company resources to create project teams capable of delivering quality work.
• Act as the company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during program execution.
• Negotiate changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors, and follow up on instructions and commitments.
• Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings supporting the client.
• Oversee the establishment of the Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan and other required documents.
• Set program requirements, monitor draft and final deliverables against them, and work with managers, project engineers and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules and plans.
• Ensure the project meets or exceeds its goals, and work with the key project individual to fix potential cost overruns or delays and to handle major scope changes, advising the client and management.
• Maintain current change orders and promote technical and commercial excellence through QA processes.
• Monitor and report progress, milestones and risks affecting cost or schedule, and hold weekly meetings to review status and set action items.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 20 years of experience delivering large-scale building projects; ideally 5 years in Abu Dhabi.
• Ability to manage projects, interface with clients and stay hands-on technically.
• Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, with excellent written and oral communication.
• Must meet Parsons' project management certification requirements.
