Consultant General Surgeon – Multispecialty Hospital, UAE

About the role

A leading, internationally accredited healthcare provider in the UAE is expanding its general, laparoscopic and emergency surgical services and is looking for a Consultant General Surgeon to join its clinical team. The role suits internationally trained clinicians seeking career advancement, strong clinical exposure and a modern, quality-driven environment serving a diverse international patient population. It is based in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage elective and emergency general surgery patients.
• Perform open and laparoscopic procedures within specialty scope and facility privileges.
• Provide perioperative care, complication management, ward rounds and outpatient follow-up.
• Collaborate with anaesthesia, ICU, radiology, gastroenterology, oncology and emergency teams.
• Contribute to surgical pathways, theatre efficiency, infection prevention and patient safety programs.
• Maintain accurate consent, operative notes, discharge summaries and clinical documentation.
• Provide consultant-level antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and gynecologic care, including high-risk pregnancies, obstetric emergencies and operative deliveries.
• Diagnose and treat gynecologic conditions and perform procedures such as cesarean section, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.

Required profile

• Internationally trained Consultant General Surgeon with recognised qualifications such as ABOS, UK CCT/FRCS, European Board, Royal College (Canada), Australian FRACS, Arab Board, or MS/DNB/FCPS equivalents.
• Candidates from the USA, UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, India, the Middle East, Africa and South America, subject to UAE licensing and facility credentialing.
• Strong clinical judgement, evidence-based practice and patient safety commitment.
• Excellent communication with culturally diverse patients and teams, and ability to adapt to UAE regulations and documentation standards.
