Consultant HSE Engineer - Leisure & Entertainment Projects

About the role

An international project management consultancy needs a well-experienced Consultant HSE Engineer with experience in leisure and entertainment projects to join its team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate must have a proven track record as a consultant QHSE engineer on construction and fit-out projects in the UAE or the wider GCC, having worked for a recognised engineering consultancy or PMC previously. The role is an initial 8-month contract, open to immediate joining, and is filled by outsourced staff through J10 Consulting.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the project's health, safety and environmental arrangements against the QHSE Management System requirements.
• Lead HSE inspectors in monitoring health and safety arrangements at site level, in line with legal and client requirements.
• Develop and deliver health, safety and environmental training, including inductions and safe working practices.
• Review and approve contractors' health, safety and environmental plans, risk assessments and method statements before work starts.
• Plan daily morning site visits and carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with inspectors and contractors, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are closed out.
• Organise HSE meetings with clients, project staff and contractors, and initiate and test emergency response plans and drills.
• Follow up on contractor incident investigation reports, give technical guidance on accident prevention and conduct regular site safety reviews.
• Liaise with enforcement authorities (PCFC, EHS checks) and prepare monthly HSE reports with contractors and the client.

Required profile

• Proven track record as a consultant QHSE engineer on construction projects in the UAE.
• Previous engineering consultancy experience is essential.
• 8+ years of relevant experience as a QHSE engineer.
• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of NEBOSH IGC certification.
• UAE driving licence is essential.
