Consultant – Infectious Disease

About the role

The Consultant – Infectious Disease will deliver specialist clinical care, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases within a tertiary‑care hospital in Abu Dhabi. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure evidence‑based patient management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level assessment and management of complex bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections.
• Lead antimicrobial therapy decisions and participate in antimicrobial stewardship programs.
• Advise on infection prevention, isolation precautions, outbreak management and support sepsis care.
• Collaborate with microbiology, laboratory and pharmacy teams on cultures, susceptibility testing and diagnostics.
• Participate in clinical meetings, audits, quality improvement initiatives and education of trainees.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MD) and recognized postgraduate qualification in Infectious Diseases or Internal Medicine.
• Consultant‑level certification and licensure recognized by the UAE health authority.
• Relevant clinical experience in a tertiary‑care setting, preferably with antimicrobial stewardship and infection control exposure.
• Current BLS/ACLS certification where required.
