Consultant Medical Oncologist – GI Oncology (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers to join a leading healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering evidence‑based oncology care, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contributing to research and education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical oncology consultation, diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up for cancer patients.
• Manage gastrointestinal malignancies including colorectal, gastric, esophageal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary and neuroendocrine cancers.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on tumor biology, stage, molecular profile and current guidelines.
• Deliver and oversee systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and hormonal therapy.
• Evaluate treatment response, manage toxicities and complications.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards with surgeons, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists and pathologists.
• Recommend appropriate genetic and molecular testing for eligible patients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and uphold patient safety and quality standards.
• Engage in clinical research, teaching, audit and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized specialist/consultant qualification in Medical Oncology.
• Sub‑specialty experience or fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology (highly desirable).
• Valid DOH (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi) licence or eligibility to obtain one.
• Significant post‑specialisation experience in medical oncology with exposure to GI malignancies.
• Strong knowledge of modern systemic cancer therapies and multidisciplinary care.
• Excellent communication, clinical decision‑making and teamwork skills.
