Consultant - Neonatology

About the role

The Royal Women Hospital in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified Consultant in Neonatology to lead and deliver high‑quality care for newborns in both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the normal newborn nursery. The role involves direct patient management, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continuous improvement of service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily rounds in the NICU and newborn nursery, performing comprehensive examinations and procedures.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging, establish diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate nursing, dietary, and therapeutic care.
• Provide in‑patient care for newborns, including management of complex deliveries and emergency situations.
• Respond promptly to parents’ concerns, maintain clear communication, and involve families in care decisions.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, report non‑conformities, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Share knowledge with colleagues, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional standards.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent qualification in Neonatology.
• Proven experience in a NICU setting, preferably at a senior or consultant level.
• Strong clinical judgment, empathy, and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
