Consultant Neurologist – Stroke Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Neurologist specializing in Stroke Medicine to join our Neurology Department in Abu Dhabi. The role involves delivering expert diagnosis and management of acute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders and helping to develop a comprehensive stroke service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level care for acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, TIA, cerebral venous thrombosis and other cerebrovascular disorders.
• Assess patients for intravenous thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy in collaboration with neurointerventional teams.
• Manage post‑stroke care, secondary prevention and long‑term vascular risk reduction.
• Interpret neuroimaging (CT, CTA, MRI, MRA) and participate in stroke unit/ICU rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Collaborate with Interventional Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation and Neurocritical Care teams.
• Contribute to stroke protocols, clinical pathways, quality improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Provide education and supervision to residents, fellows and junior physicians and engage in clinical research and teaching.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized school and accredited postgraduate training in Neurology.
• Board certification or specialist qualification in Neurology with a valid Department of Health Abu Dhabi consultant licence.
• Significant post‑specialist experience as a Consultant Neurologist with demonstrated acute stroke management.
• Fellowship or advanced formal training in Stroke Medicine / Vascular Neurology is highly desirable.
• Experience in thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy pathways and comprehensive stroke centre services.
