Consultant Ophthalmologist – Abu Dhabi, UAE

About the role

A leading internationally accredited healthcare provider in the UAE is expanding its ophthalmology services. The role offers a senior clinician the chance to work in a modern, quality‑driven environment serving a diverse, international patient base.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage medical and surgical eye conditions in outpatient and operative settings.
• Perform subspecialty procedures such as cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea or oculoplastic surgery.
• Interpret ophthalmic imaging, visual fields, OCT and other diagnostic tests.
• Handle urgent eye conditions including trauma, acute vision loss, infection and raised intra‑ocular pressure.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with optometry, endocrinology, neurology, rheumatology and paediatric teams.
• Maintain surgical safety, consent, documentation and infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Internationally recognised specialist qualification (e.g., American Board, UK CCT/FRCOphth, European Board, Royal College, Arab Board, etc.).
• Strong clinical judgement, commitment to evidence‑based practice and patient safety.
• Excellent communication skills for culturally diverse patients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to adapt to UAE licensing, documentation standards and hospital governance.
