Consultant Paediatric Vascular Surgeon

About the role

A leading government healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatric Vascular Surgeon. The consultant provides highly specialized surgical care for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired vascular disorders, covering advanced diagnosis, operative and endovascular management and multidisciplinary collaboration, in line with Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) Professional Qualification Requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-level care, independently assessing and managing congenital vascular malformations, hemangiomas, vascular tumors, peripheral vascular disease, vascular trauma and access surgery
• Perform complex open and endovascular procedures, lead pre-operative planning, surgery and post-operative care, and provide emergency and on-call services
• Offer expert consultations and second opinions
• Work with pediatric surgery, interventional radiology, plastic surgery, dermatology, oncology, neonatology and pediatrics, and take part in vascular anomaly and MDT meetings
• Mentor residents, fellows and junior consultants, and take part in teaching, clinical audits, quality improvement and clinical research
• Ensure compliance with DOH PQR, hospital governance, patient safety, infection control and ethical standards, and maintain accurate clinical documentation and coding

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
• Recognized specialty qualification in Vascular Surgery or General Surgery with Vascular Surgery certification (e.g. American Board of Surgery, UK CCT, Canadian, Irish, Australian boards)
• Formal fellowship in Pediatric Vascular Surgery from an accredited institution (mandatory)
• Minimum 3 years post-fellowship as a Consultant, or 5 years post-specialty in a recognized tertiary pediatric or vascular center, with demonstrated independent practice
• Eligible for or holding a DOH Consultant License with Pediatric Vascular Surgery scope
