Consultant Palliative Care – Abu Dhabi

About the role

We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Consultant in Palliative Care to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive palliative and supportive care to patients with life‑limiting illnesses, enhancing quality of life and providing psychosocial support to patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients requiring palliative and end‑of‑life care.
• Develop individualized treatment and symptom‑management plans for advanced or chronic illnesses.
• Provide expert consultation for pain management and complex symptom control.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including oncology, internal medicine, critical care, nursing, psychology, social work, and rehabilitation.
• Conduct family meetings, facilitate goals‑of‑care discussions, advance care planning, and end‑of‑life decision‑making.
• Ensure continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, home‑care, and hospice settings.
• Participate in developing palliative‑care policies, protocols, and clinical pathways.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives and patient‑safety programs.
• Provide teaching and mentorship to physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.
• Engage in clinical research, audits, and evidence‑based practice initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Completion of accredited specialty training in Palliative Medicine or related specialty with fellowship/sub‑specialty certification.
• Board certification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi.
• Minimum of 5 years of post‑board clinical experience in palliative care.
