Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon will provide specialist surgical care for children with congenital heart disease at a leading Abu Dhabi hospital. The role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and participation in departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support and implement hospital, departmental and divisional policies and initiatives.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and administrative duties.
• Lead ward rounds, assess in‑patients and out‑patients, and ensure appropriate follow‑up.
• Oversee clinical activities of junior medical staff and assume responsibility for their patient care.
• Perform pediatric cardiac surgeries, obtain informed consent, and prepare patients for procedures.
• Document clinical information accurately and review investigation results to modify treatment plans.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings and liaise with other specialties and support services.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Paediatric Surgery.
• Board certification (American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, or equivalent Western board) and fellowship in Paediatric Surgery.
• Current national medical license or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑specialisation experience.
• Proof of yearly CME and compliance with SEHA regulatory requirements.
