Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon – Transplant (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon with specialised expertise in cardiac transplantation to join a leading tertiary paediatric cardiac centre in Abu Dhabi. The role involves performing complex cardiac operations and leading the paediatric heart‑transplant programme, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver world‑class outcomes for infants, children and adolescents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex paediatric cardiac surgeries, including congenital defect repairs, redo procedures and high‑risk neonatal operations.
• Lead and participate in the paediatric heart transplantation programme – donor evaluation, recipient selection, surgical transplantation and post‑operative care.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative surgical management for paediatric cardiac patients.
• Collaborate with ICU, cardiology, anaesthesia and perfusion teams to manage critically ill patients.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows and trainees.
• Contribute to clinical research, audits, publications and academic activities.
• Ensure compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations, surgical safety and infection‑control standards.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and programme development.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent recognised by DOH Abu Dhabi.
• Board certification/fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with subspecialty training in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery.
• Mandatory advanced training/experience in paediatric heart transplantation.
• Valid DOH Consultant licence or eligibility letter in Cardiac Surgery.
• 7–10 years post‑fellowship experience in paediatric cardiac surgery, including transplant programmes.
• Strong expertise in neonatal and complex congenital heart surgery.
• Excellent surgical, leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
