Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery to join our multidisciplinary team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based cardiac care for children, overseeing both inpatient and outpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical excellence by diagnosing, managing and treating pediatric cardiac patients using evidence‑based practices.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, including specialists, general practitioners and residents.
• Collaborate with other specialties and support services in multidisciplinary meetings to ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in rotational on‑call coverage, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, departmental and DOH policies, including infection control and patient safety.
• Engage in quality improvement activities such as clinical audits, peer review and risk management.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree with a postgraduate qualification (MD, MS, DNB) and completion of a recognized specialty training program.
• 3–7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for, or possession of, a valid Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) medical licence, including required primary source verification, DOH exam (if applicable) and good‑standing certificate.
