Consultant Physician – General Medicine

About the role

The Consultant Physician – General Medicine leads and supervises high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care, providing clinical excellence and training for junior staff within the division.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of evidence‑based patient care across the division.
• Diagnose, manage and treat patients according to best‑practice standards.
• Oversee junior medical staff, ensuring quality of care and providing training.
• Participate in performance management, peer review and productivity assessments.
• Assist Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and on‑call coverage.
• Lead ward rounds, review investigations, modify treatment plans and document clinical information promptly.
• Engage in multidisciplinary meetings, coordinate with other specialties and support services.
• Promote quality improvement, audit activities and incident reporting.
• Support continuous medical education, clinical research and publication.

Required profile

• Tier 1: Minimum 2 years post‑board consultant experience, or Tier 2: Minimum 8 years full‑time consultant experience (including fellowship) in an internationally accredited institute.
• Current national medical licence (UAE) or equivalent and documented yearly CME participation.
