About the role
The Consultant Vascular Surgeon will deliver specialist vascular and arterial care within government hospitals in Abu Dhabi, providing both surgical and endovascular treatments while ensuring patient safety and compliance with UAE healthcare regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnose arterial, venous and other vascular disorders, and interpret imaging studies such as Doppler ultrasound, CT angiography, MR angiography and conventional angiography.
- Perform open vascular surgeries and endovascular interventions, managing conditions including peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease, aneurysmal disease, acute limb ischemia and venous disease.
- Oversee pre‑operative assessment, informed consent, operative planning, postoperative monitoring and long‑term follow‑up, including complication management.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with radiology, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopaedics, nephrology, diabetology, wound care, anaesthesia and other specialties.
- Provide emergency vascular surgical consultation, ensure appropriate referrals, maintain accurate medical records and communicate treatment options clearly to patients and families.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
- Post‑graduate qualification in General Surgery and/or Vascular Surgery; fellowship/sub‑specialty qualification in Vascular Surgery preferred.
- Qualification recognised by the UAE health authority and current BLS certification.
Required skills
- Interpretation of Doppler ultrasound, CT angiography, MR angiography and conventional angiography.
- Execution of open vascular surgical procedures and endovascular interventions.
- Management of peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease, aneurysmal disease, acute limb ischemia and venous disorders.
