Cost Control Engineer

About the role

Target Engineering is looking for an experienced Cost Control Engineer to join its project controls team. You will monitor, analyze, forecast and control project costs to ensure budget compliance and support decision‑making on large‑scale energy, marine and civil infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets and financial forecasts, providing cost trend analysis and historical data insights.
• Monitor project expenditures, analyse cost performance against budget, investigate variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate cost impacts of changes, variations and scope modifications, update forecasts and communicate implications to stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed cost reports such as Cost‑to‑Complete, variance analysis, cash‑flow forecasts and budget performance reports.
• Identify cost‑related risks, support mitigation strategies and contribute to project risk assessments.
• Maintain cost databases, support benchmarking initiatives and promote cost‑control best practices across teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in cost control, project controls or project cost management on large‑scale Oil & Gas, Civil Engineering or Power projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or equivalent certification is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong analytical ability to interpret complex cost data.
• Proficiency with cost control software and project controls systems.
• Hands‑on experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and cost reporting tools.
• Knowledge of FIDIC contract standards and commercial practices.
