Cost Engineer – Power & Water Transmission Projects

About the role

The Cost Engineer will lead cost management for KBR's large‑scale power and water transmission scheme in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures budgets, forecasts and financial controls are aligned with project objectives and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain overall programme and individual package budgets as live documents.
• Track costs against approved budgets, including committed, incurred, actual/paid and forecast final costs.
• Prepare detailed cost reports for each works package, highlighting variances, earned value and month‑on‑month movements.
• Review and comment on EPC contractors’ work value reports.
• Coordinate with clients, supervision consultants, contractors, vendors and regulatory authorities to ensure cost compliance.
• Oversee implementation of project budgets and monitor insurance and bond conditions.
• Prepare, review and register variation orders and assist in claim resolutions.
• Verify all payments and produce monthly Forecast‑to‑Complete (Estimate at Completion) reports.
• Ensure final accounting for each EPC contract is completed promptly, including all outstanding claims.
• Present regular project cost status reports to senior management and the client.
• Guide and mentor project team members, promoting professional development.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships to support project delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or construction discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in cost engineering or commercial management on large‑scale power and water transmission projects.
